Bhubaneswar: Odisha has become the best performing state in the funds utilisation under Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) 2.0.
This was revealed when Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the WDC-PMKSY 2.0 project of all the states and UTs of J&K, and Ladakh through video conference.
Odisha is on the first rank with 83% of outlay of funds utilised since inception. The project period is from FY 2021-22 to 2025-26 and total project outlay is Rs 759.27 crore, with 60:40 Centre & State share.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo presented the figures and facts to the Union Minister during the review. Union Minister Chouhan praised the Odisha government for best utilisation of allocated funds under the WDC- PMKSY 2.0.
Singh Deo also highlighted that seven additional projects have been sanctioned under WDC-PMKSY 2.0 during 2025-26 with 30,212 ha area and with total project outlay of Rs 82.10 crore to improve productive potential of rainfed/ degraded land through integrated watershed management.
Rural Development, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director, Soil Conservation & Watershed Management Subrat Kumar Panda and other senior officials were present during the video conference
