Cuttack: The railway station at Cuttack will soon be made world class with modern amenities at a cost of Rs 303 crore, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always given top priority to Odisha’s development, he said design ideas have been sought from public for giving Cuttack railway station a new look and the best design will be sent for final approval. Thereafter, foundation stone will be laid and work will begin, he said.

This apart, 57 railway stations in Odisha will be modernised,  Railways Minister said during the inaugural run of the new Bhadrak-Nayagarh Town-Bhadrak MEMU train. Vaishnaw along with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan flagged off the inaugural run of the train at Cuttack railway station.

Affirming the Centre’s commitment to Odisha’s progress in all spheres, Vaishnaw said 5G telecom services have already been launched in 12 of the state’s 30 districts in the first phase.

This apart, an amount of Rs 5,600 crore has been sanctioned for providing telecom facilities in 7,000 villages in the state, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra said the railways sector in Odisha had been neglected earlier, but fund allocation has been increased manifold by the Modi government.

According to sources, the regular service of the new MEMU train will commence from Friday.

This was a long pending aspiration of the people of both Bhadrak and Nayagarh districts. The Railways Minister had announced during the foundation stone laying ceremony of Redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station that the new train will be launched.

This is the result of Vaishnaw’s continuous focus for the comfort and convenience of the passengers of the region. This train will provide facilities to the public of the respective regions for direct journey instead of changing transportation facilities at intermediate places.

08555/08556 Bhadrak-Nayagarh Town-Bhadrak MEMU will leave from Bhadrak at 0545 am and reach Nayagarh Town at 1155 am. In the return direction, this train from Nayagarh Town will leave at 1705 pm and reach Bhadrak at 2245 pm. This train will have stoppages at all stations and pssenger halts between Bhadrak and Nayagarh Town from both the directions.
