Odisha: Bhrugu Baxipatra Snaps 23-Yr-Old Ties With BJP, Says ‘Party Does Not Require Me’

Bhubaneswar: With elections in Odisha barely months away, BJP leader Bhrugu Baxipatra on Wednesday resigned from the party.

He has sent his resignation to state BJP president Manmohan Samal.

“Lately, I have realised that the party does not require me or my contribution any more,” he mentioned in his resignation letter as the reason for snapping 23-year-old ties with the saffron party.

“I have decided to move on. I will continue to serve the people of Odisha and work towards the development of our state,” he added.

Bhrugu had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 elections from Berhampur Lok Sabha seat. However, he was denied ticket by the party, which instead fielded BJD defector and Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi from the seat this time.

He is likely to join the BJD.
