Balasore: The results of the three-tier panchayat elections in Bhogarai of Odisha’s Balasore district came as a jolt for the BJD with son of MLA Ananta Das losing the poll by a slender margin.
Ananta’s son Biswajit Das was contesting as Samiti Member candidate backed by BJD from Sianroi panchayat in Bhogarai. He lost to Independent candidate Asish Mohanty who happens to be BJD’s former Zilla Parishad member. Mohanty defeated Das with a margin of 88 votes.
Another BJD-backed candidate and Ananta’s relative Achyutananda Das also lost the polls in Maheswar panchayat in Bhogarai.
