Nabarangpur: In a jolt to Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Nabarangpur, its district unit vice president Rajanikant Patnaik has resigned from the party alleging arbitrary functioning of the organisation.
Patnaik said he has sent a letter to BJD president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik conveying his decision to resign from the primary membership of the party.
Alleging that the regional party has been hit by severe groupism and infighting, Patnaik said a large number of his supporters in the district are also set to quit the party as they are fed up with the arbitrary way of functioning.
Stating that he had drawn the attention of district unit president Ramech Majhi to the issue of infighting ahead of the recent elections, he said no action was taken to keep the party united and strengthen the organisation. “I had also informed party observer Ishwar Chandra Panigrahi about the state of affairs but my suggestions were ignored,” he claimed.
“As a result, the party organisation was weakened substantially. Our voice is not being heard by the leadership. Therefore, I decided to quit the party,” he added.
