Bhubaneswar: Amid the continuing suspense over new chief minister, the BJP has appointed Rajnath Singh and Bhupender Yadav as observers for election of the leader of its 78-member legislature party in Odisha.
Brajarajnagar MLA-elect Suresh Pujari, who returned from New Delhi after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, said that the two Union Ministers will attend the BJP legislature party meeting on Tuesday. “The meeting will be held tomorrow in which Cabinet ministers Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav will come as observers…constulation will be made …Based on consensus, the name of the next Odisha CM will be announced by them,” said Purjari, who is said to be one of the contenders for the post.
The BJP parliamentary board, the highest decision-making body of the party, will take the final call, he added.
Besides Pujari, state BJP president Manmohan Samal, and MLAs-elect KV Singh and Mohan Majhi are also in the reckoning.
Pujari also confirmed that the PM will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the CM of the maiden BJP government at Janata Maidan here on June 12 at 4:45 pm. The Prime Minister will arrive in Bhubaneswar at 2:10 pm, and then proceed to Raj Bhavan. He will also conduct a roadshow from Jayadev Vihar to the venue before attending the event. “PM Modi will conduct the roadshow to thank the people of Odisha for giving 20 parliamentary seats and a clear mandate to form the next govt in Odisha…,” he said.
The saffron party won 78 of 147 Assembly seats and swept the Lok Sabha polls, pocketing 20 of 21 seats.
