Bhubaneswar: Accusing Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of making derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the police against Odisha’s ruling party.
BJP leaders alleged that filthy comments and postings were made by a Facebook handle run by the IT cell of BJD.
A delegation of Odisha BJP leaders filed the complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Bhubaneswar seeking stern action against the BJD workers/leaders who are involved in such unsavoury activities.
Senior BJP leader and former state unit president of the party Samir Mohanty said that the people of Odisha will not tolerate any abusive comments against the Prime Minister. BJP will resort to agitation if those involved in the act are not arrested, he said.
Accusing BJD becoming intolerant as the Prime Minister has the support of about 80 per cent of people in the state, Mohanty said a post uploaded on Facebook from Biju Janata Dal-Odisha’s ID, in which the ruling party office-bearers are Admins, has abusive comments.
As Modi Ji is being praised and honoured by people across the world, BJD workers and supporters are unable to tolerate it, he claimed.
Cyber Police should register a case against such BJD supporters under Sections 124(A), 153(A), 504, 505(2), 66, and 67 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrest them soon, the FIR said.
