Odisha BJP Protecting Cong In Cash Seizure Of Jharkhand MP, Says BJD

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday accused BJP’s Odisha unit of protecting the Congress in the Rs 300 crore seizure during IT raids on business establishments of Rajya Sabha member Dhiraj Sahu while the saffron party’s Central leadership has called the Congress as storehouse of corruption.

Speaking at a presser in Bhubaneswar on Monday, BJD spokespersons Lenin Mohanty and Sofia Alam said BJP’s national president JP Nadda, ministers Smriti Irani and Anurag Singh Thakur, national leaders G Kishan Reddy and Amit Malviya have raised questions on the Congress and sought reply from its leaders reply on the issue.

The BJP MPs also staged a protest against corruption by the Congress MP from Jharkhand on Parliament premises on Monday.

“It’s surprising that Odisha BJP leaders are doing just the opposite. In a way, they have pledged to save the Congress on the issue for their political self-interests,” the BJD leaders said.

“It’s being heard that the huge amount of cash was kept to be used in Chhattisgarh elections but could not be moved at the right time. Later, it was caught in IT department raid. Odisha BJP will have to answer as to why in this matter they are trying to save the Congress? Has there been some understanding between Odisha Congress and Odisha BJP? People of the State want to know,” they said.

The BJD spokespersons further said it has become a habit of the Odisha BJP leaders to condemn the state nationally by giving wrong facts and speaking lies. “The people of Odisha now know that the state BJP is protecting Odisha Congress in this matter of corruption. Due to habitually speaking lies and giving misleading arguments with an intention to defame Odisha, the people have rejected the party in the state in the past and will also reject them in the coming days as well,” they added.
