Bhubaneswar: A day after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the poll schedule, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said it is fully prepared for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha.
Asserting that the party gearing up to fight the twin elections with full might, senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Pratap Sarangi said preparation in Odisha is almost complete and the strategy is being fine-tuned for the upcoming poll battle.
Another senior leader of the saffron party said that BJP is in poll mode and has chalked out its strategy for the twin elections in Odisha. Top party leaders held marathon meetings in Bhubaneswar to further sharpen the poll plans, he said.
A crucial meeting of state BJP’s election committee was held on Saturday and discussions were held on selection of candidates for all the 147 Assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats in the state, he said.
Sarangi said that a list of probable candidates has been prepared and it will be sent to the party high command for consideration. The names of candidates will be announced from Delhi by the central leadership.
BJP’s election in-charge for Odisha Vijaypal Singh Tomar said the meeting discussed plans to reach out to the electorate effectively. All aspects relating to campaigning and candidate selection were discussed threadbare, he said, adding that the names of candidates will also be announced at the appropriate time.
Notably, BJP has decided to reach out to one crore people in Odisha with the letter written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
