Bhubaneswar: Odisha unit of BJP on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) demanding transfer of the officers who are holding their posts for more than three years.
A delegation of the BJP met CEO Nikunja Bihari Dhal in his office in Bhubaneswar and handed over the memorandum.
The BJP leaders pointed out that the Election Commission of India, in a letter to the Odisha government on December 1, 20230, had asked to transfer such officials by January 31, 2024. But the state government has not taken any step in this regard, they claimed.
They further said as per the government rules, IAS and IPS officers should be assigned new responsibility after working in a particular place or holding a post for more than three years. Around 10 collectors serving in different districts of the state for more than three years have not been shifted, they alleged.
The BJP leaders said if the government fails to take any step on their demand, they would move the Election Commission drawing its attention to violation of its order.
