Berhampur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has threatened to close the entrance of the Railway Over Bridge (ROB) here, if the government fails to widen the main PWD road between Ankuli and National Highway 16 within a fortnight.
In a memorandum submitted to the RDC (Southern Division) here on Friday, the Silpanchaal Mandal Berhampur unit of the party stated that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hurriedly inaugurated this ROB through video-conferencing without ensuring basic facilities to the commuters.
“The main PWD road connecting Ankuli and National Highway 16 is still narrow. People from Gaunju, Aruapalli, Golabandha and other areas face severe traffic congestion on this road on regular basis,” the BJP unit said.
Demanding that the road should be widened for the convenience of the commuters on the road, the saffron party threatened to resort to close the ROB, if immediate steps are not taken by the government in this regard within a fortnight.
