Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal said on Monday that the party’s state unit will formally begin its membership campaign on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will join the event from New Delhi, he told a presser.
Samal further said that Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and other BJP leaders will renew their memberships during a special programme at party’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar.”Though people can take membership of the party from today, a special programme for the drive will be organised at the party’s state headquarters at 2 pm on Tuesday marking the official launch,” he said.
Besides, a toll-free number (8800002024) for BJP membership enrollment will be opened from 5 this evening. Those above 18 years of age and interested to become a member of the BJP can call up on this number to register.
“In 2014, BJP with over 11 crore members surpassed China’s Communist Party to become the world’s largest political party. We had added 7 crore new members in the subsequent three years. New members will have to work for development of the party,” Samal stated.
The state BJP chief further said that 42 lakh individuals in Odisha have joined the BJP. “In the recent Assembly and Parliament elections, we received 40% and 45% of the votes, respectively. I exhort all to join the party and increase its strength,” he added.
