Bhubaneswar: Gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to launch a three-day ‘Gaon Chala’ campaign across the state from February 9 as part of efforts to woo rural voters.
The drive will seek to maximise its public outreach, with the objective to increase the vote share of the saffron party to more than 50 per cent in Odisha.
During the campaign, elected representatives, state and district functionaries of BJP will spend at least a day in the villages assigned to them to make party workers aware of the ways to leverage public support for the party.
They will highlight the different welfare and developmental programmes launched by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre during the last 10 years.
BJP sources said that party’s Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, Deepak Prakash who is in charge of the village connect programme for Odisha, held a workshop of party functionaries from all the 36 organisational districts in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
During the meeting, party functionaries were informed about the importance of the door-to-door campaign and reaching out to all sections of voters with the message of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Modi guarantee’.
The aim is to increase BJP’s vote share to 51 per cent in the state as part of efforts to ensure that the saffron party retains power at the Centre with Modi as the Prime Minister again. The three-day campaign would cover all households to assess the mood of voters in villages in the run up to the elections.
