Odisha BJP Upbeat About PM’s Visit

Bhubaneswar: BJP leaders of Odisha are upbeat about the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Odisha slated for Saturday.

Talking about the visit to the Millennium City, the party’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra said the most popular leader of the country has a special agenda for the state.

“The four years of the BJP government at the Centre are no ordinary years. Rather it is the golden period of its realization of people’s welfare programmes. To mark the completion of his party’s fourth term in office, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Odisha tomorrow to present his report card. It is a matter of great pride that he has selected Odisha to speak his mind,” he told mediapersons here.

Highlighting the performance of the BJP government, Patra said the GDP has gone up to 7.4 percent from 4.8 percent in just four years, which is a remarkable achievement. This apart, ‘Jan Dhan Yojana,’ the biggest financial inclusion programme the country has ever had, has been lauded. As reported by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), 55 percent of total bank accounts opened globally were from India in the last four years, he added.

Patra said the Prime Minister has a special liking for Odisha. “This can be judged from the fact that even though BJP has managed to win only one seat in the state, he chose two Union Ministers from here,” he noted.

According to the schedule, Modi will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 3.25 pm in a special flight. From the airport, he will leave for Naraj in a special helicopter. From there, he will head for the Baliyatra ground at Gadagadia Ghat in Cuttack by road.

After addressing a public meeting, he will return to Bhubaneswar and leave for New Delhi at 5.55 pm.

Tight security has been put in place in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack by the Commissionerate Police with the deployment of 100 platoons of police force (80 in Cuttack and 20 in Bhubaneswar).
