Kendrapada: The Block Education Officer (BEO) of Marsaghai in the district, Satrughana Behera, was arrested by the Vigilance on Wednesday for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from a retired staff to process his provisional pension and other retirement benefits.
Behera managed to escape from the office through the back door. The bribe money of Rs 20,000 has been seized from the office table drawer of the accused.
A Vigilance Case has been registered and investigation is on. His higher authorities have been intimated for necessary departmental action and steps are being taken to apprehend the accused BEO.
