Bhubaneswar: With the blistering heatwave coupled with high humidity tightening its grip over Odisha, Jharsuguda turned out to be the hottest place in the state on Friday morning recording 43.4 degrees Celcius by 11.30 am.
State capital Bhubaneswar recorded 41.6 degrees Celcius by 11.30 am. The capital city recorded 30.2 degree Celsius temperature and 92 per cent humidity by 5:30 am. By 8.30, the mercury touched 34.2 degree Celsius, while humidity stood at 73%. High humidity addes to the woes of people.
In an advisory, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the state capital and Cuttack city. People have been advised to avoid heat exposure, keep cool and avoid dehydration.
The MeT Centre has also issued an orange warning for severe heatwave in15 districts and a yellow warning for 5 districts for a heatwave.
A heatwave alert has been issued for various districts of Odisha, said the latest MeT report. People have been advised to refrain from stepping outside the house from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm.
They have been asked to take necessary precautions in case going out of the home within the time is unavoidable.
