Bhubaneswar: Distinguished educationist Prof Sunita Mishra, who hails from Odisha, has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University at Udaipur in Rajasthan.
Prof Mishra, who was Dean of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Lucknow has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of MLSU by Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra in the capacity of Chancellor of Universities, sources said.
A native of Puri, Prof Mishra taught in Berhampur Government Women’s College and SB Women’s College, Cuttack in Odisha between 1991 and 1997 before joining Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and then Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Lucknow, a central University).
With over 32 years of teaching experience, she has excellent academic credentials. Having served as Professor & Dean for around 15 years, she has authored 23 books, supervised 20 Ph.Ds , two patents in food technology.
Recipient of several awards, she was awarded by Nobel laureate in USA in 2008, published more than 400 research papers of repute and headed several committees of UGC and NAAC in last 10 years. She was closely associated with World Food Programme of United Nations in India.
An alumnus of Rama Devi Women’s College (now University) in Bhubaneswar and Shailabala Women’s College Cuttack, Prof Mishra is the daughter of former IAS officer Sachidanand Mishra and Shantilata Mishra, and wife of IPS officer Satya Narayan Sabat, the sources added.
