Odisha-Born Spiritual Leader Swami Chetanananda Saraswati Passes Away

Bhubaneswar: Well-known spiritual leader Swami Chetanananda Saraswati passed away on Tuesday morning, the city-based Sri Sri Nigamananda Ashram informed.

The ashram said he died of old age-related health issues,

Born at Digapahandi in Ganjam district, the late swami went by the name of Prof Dr Chakrapani Misra before taking up a monastic life.

He pursued a science education and earned his PhD under the guidance of Prof Donald R Neilsen at the University of California in Davis, USA.

He was deeply influenced by the spiritual teachings of Srimad Swami Vishuddhananda Saraswati and took up a monastic life.

Besides guiding a multitude of spiritual seekers from both India and abroad, Swami Chetanananda was also involved in maintaining and expanding a network of spiritual and educational institutions in Odisha, Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
