Puri: A school student of Puri town has found a place in India Book Of Records for doing upside down painting in shortest time.
Ayush Mohapatra, a Class VIII student of Baseli Sahi, set the record by doing a painting of Lord Ganesh in 5 minutes. “I used both my hands simultaneously to paint and completed the image in 5 minutes. I have used acrylic colour in the painting. I started from the legs of Lord Ganesh and worked towards the head,” said Ayush.
Speaking on his training on the difficult method of painting, Ayush said, “I have not attended any art school or teacher. No one gives training on speed painting in Puri.”
During lockdown, he came to know about the speed painting from YouTube channels and started learning from it. Since he has been painting from childhood, he acquired the skill of the new format easily and fast.
“I have already done upside down speed paintings of Indian Army, Maa Durga, Kathakali dance and Tirupati Balaji,” said Ayush who also does stone painting and wall painting.
His father Nityananda Mohapatra said Ayush has a unique talent but he is unable to showcase it at larger forum for lack of fund. “He participated in a painting competition recently and was selected to go to Nigeria. But we cannot afford to send him due to our financial problem. If he gets support from the government or any private organisation, Ayush can go to the international competition,” he added.
On his future plan, Ayush said, “I want to participate in more painting competitions and become a professor.”
