New Delhi: Odisha’s rising talent Debasis Sahoo won the Under-16 boys’ doubles title at the Fenesta Open here on Saturday.
The top-seeded pair of Debasis and Haryana’s Tejas Ahuja overcame Gujarat duo Prabir Muke Chavda and Vraj Hitesh Gohil 6-4, 6-3 in the final. Chanvda and Gohil had knocked out second seeds Tanush Ghildyal (Karnataka) and Dhruv Sachdeva (Haryana) in the quarterfinal.
Debasis and Tejas passed their toughest test in the semifinal, defeating Hitesh Chauhan and Shankar Heisnam 7-6 (2-6), 2-6, 10-6.
Debasis was part of the Junior Davis Cup team which qualified for the World Finals for the first time.
