Odisha Braces For Cyclonic Storm Yaas

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday directed the departments concerned to take preemptive measures against cyclonic storm Yaas, which the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted is going to form over the Bay of Bengal on May 26.

Informing this, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena tweeted that he had a video conferencing with the IMD Director General on the latest weather update.

Later, the SRC held a preparatory meeting with the departments concerned to keep their manpower and machineries ready for the cyclone. The department secretaries have already started the preparations, he added.

“As directed by the Chief Minister, the departments will take all necessary actions beforehand to minimize discomfort to the people,” Jena said.
