Odisha Braces For Heavy To Very Heavy Rains With Back-To-Back Low Pressure Areas

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall till August 30 under the influence of a well-marked low pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal, which is expected to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and adjoining North Odisha during the next 2 days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also informed about possibility of a fresh low pressure over east central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal on August 29.

August 26

Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Koraput and Malkangiri.

Bhubaneswar may experience partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thundershowers.

August 27

Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Deogarh.

August 28

Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Balangir and Kalahandi.

August 29

Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam and Gajapati.

The intensity of rain is likely to increase on August 30 with heavy to very heavr rain at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada district. Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Balangir and Nuapada.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may continue at several places in the state during the subsequent 2 days, it added.
