Bhubaneswar: The annual Odisha budget for 2026-27 has proposed the establishment of a world-class Shree Jagannath Museum and Library in Puri town.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi while presenting the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal in the state Assembly on Friday.
As part of the proposed initiative, the state government will also carry out development work to restore the spiritual glory of Gundicha temple, Emar m
utt, Pramod Udyan and the historic Raghunandan Library at the pilgrim town.
Asserting that first and foremost priority of the government is to preserve and propagate the Jagannath culture, Majhi said a budgetary allocation of Rs 1,000 crore has been made for this initiative.
The CM further stated that the government has introduced a digital hundi, christened as ‘Samarpan’ to facilitate online donation by the devotees towards Jagannath temple. “Devotees from across the world can donate money to the Jagannath temple through the digital hundi. The initiative will connect the devotees with the 12th century shrine,” he said.
He added that Rs 5 crore has been allocated as grant-in-aid in favour of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, Puri for preparation of a detailed inventory of all the ornaments of Ratna Bhandar of Lord Jagannath.
