Bhubaneswar: The budget session of the Odisha Assembly began on a stormy note on Thursday with the Opposition BJP and Congress members staging a walkout.
As soon as the session began with the address of Governor Ganeshi Lal, BJP and Congress MLAs stood up and shouted slogans against the state government.
The opposition members raised the recent panchayat polls in the three border villages of Kotia panchayat in Koraput district by the Andhra Pradesh government and accused the Odisha government of “gross apathy” and “inaction” in resolving the issue.
The Congress members also created a ruckus over the steep hike in fuel prices.
After staging a walkout in the House, the Opposition members sat on a dharna near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the Assembly premises.
