Bhubaneswar: An additional secretary of the state government has been directed by his department to work from home as there is no space for him in the office at Secretariat, here.

An official order, issued by additional secretary on the order of special secretary, Public Enterprises department on Friday, stated that since there are four sections and five additional secretaries in the department, one of the officers has to work from home.

“There are five additional secretaries in the department while four sections are available at present. There is no sufficient space and work to accommodate so many officers. In view of the above, Sailendra Dwibedi, additional secretary is hereby directed to work from home till further orders,” the official order said.

According to sources, the number of promotional posts in the state government offices should be one third of the base level posts as per the norms. But at present, there are more than 1200 promotional posts against 555 OAS cadre posts which is creating problems in finding space and work for the officers.
