Though the Election Commission is yet to make an official announcement of the result, data from booth-level sources reveals that the BJD candidate has won with a margin of 13,395 votes. The leads are available on the official website results.eci.gov.in.
BJD’s Swarup Das secured 82,810 votes against 69,415 votes polled by his nearest rival Manas Kumar Dutta of BJP. Dutta is the son of former BJP MLA late Madan Mohan Dutta whose demise led to the bypoll.
The Congress nominee’s votes were limited to 4,901. Independent candidate Benudhar Barik or Benu Mausa lost his deposit by securing 1245 votes.
