Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Saturday approved a total of 14 proposals, including one for the construction of a high-level bridge over river Mahanadi in Cuttack district.

The Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved 14 proposals pertaining to around seven departments, sources said.

The Cabinet approved a high-level bridge over Mahanadi at Brahmankanda- Sahukheta road under Salepur block in Cuttack district under the state plan.

The project will provide interlink connection between Cuttack-Paradip road and Cuttack-Chandbali road, and benefit people residing on both sides of the river, Water Resources, Commerce and Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu said after the Cabinet meeting.

The Project will benefit the people residing on both sides of the river by providing direct connectivity and economic opportunity.

Tender for this project has been approved by the Cabinet in favour of ITL-CCPL (IV) amounting to Rs. 128,71,00,000.00 for execution of the work. The work is targeted for completion within 36 months.

The Cabinet also approved the scheme, ‘Command Area Development and Water Management (CADWM) activities in irrigated commands (version 2.0) with an estimated cost of Rs 763.47 crore for a further period of 5 years to 2028-29′.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal of Revenue and Disaster Management Department for sanction of lease of Ac 2.50 decimal of government land at Chauliaganj in favour of DAV SCN Medical Public School, free of premium, and incidental charges but subject to payment of annual ground rent at 0.25 percent of premium and cess at 75 percent of the ground rent for the construction of new school building and waiver of all government dues including interest.

It was also decided to exempt premium of Rs 5,06,00,000 for lease of government land at Chandrasekharpur in favour of Utkal Yadav Mahasabha for construction of Yadav Bhawan at Bhubaneswar.

The meeting gave nod to another proposal to spend Rs 574.74 crores during 2024-29 for the re-construction Of Old Field Channel for proper distribution of water to agriculture lands. Field channels of 1,860 km will be built and irrigation facilities strengthened on 62,000 hectares of land.

The construction of field channels was started in the state since 1976-77. Initially, earthen field channels were constructed with some masonry structures and brick lining at vulnerable points.

The field channels constructed before 2008-09 are now in dilapidated condition /non-functional, resulting in accumulation of water near the outlet and depriving irrigation to the tail end beneficiaries.

The present scheme is extended with an objective to reconstruct the old and dilapidated field channels which have become non-functional and to ensure equitable distribution of available irrigation water up to tail end of the chak by construction of adequate field channel network .
This will also bridge the gap between Irrigation Potential Created(IPC) & Irrigation Potential Utilized (IPU) . 1860 km length of field channel will be reconstructed by RCC lining in command area of 62,000 Ha, officials said.

The Cabinet approved another proposal for reduction of procurement cost of non-judicial stamp papers and introduction of e-stamping,

The licensed stamp vendors engaged as Authorized Collection Centre (ACC) under e-stamping system will get commission of 0.85% from the government on collection of stamp duty above and over the commission provided by the Stock Holding Corporation on issue of e-stamp papers.

The Licensed Stamp Vendors are getting about 1% to 4% commission in selling non-judicial stamp papers ranging from Rs.1 to Rs.25000/- denomination of stamp paper.
