Bhubaneswar: In view of the rise in market prices of various inputs, labour etc., the Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal for a hike in the cost of the meal from Rs 20 to Rs 23 with beneficiary contribution remaining at Rs 5.
For providing technical support to the Odisha State Aahaar Society and effective management of the Aahaar programme, a programme management unit (PMU) shall be set up at the state level.
The state government had launched the Aahar programme on April 1, 2015, with 21 Aahar Kendras in five Municipal Corporations. The number of centres has gone up to 157 covering all the114 urban local bodies (ULBs) in all the 30 districts. The night feeding has begun at 56 centres from December 31 last year located near the hospitals. At present, one lakh meals per day being served and so far more than 7.2 crore meals have been served.
The other proposals approved by the State Cabinet are as follows:
—Sanction of Guarantee of Rs 3000 crore in favour of Gridco for the loans already availed/to be availed during the three financial years (2016-17 to 2018-19)
— The proposed amendment to the existing provisions under the ‘Odisha non-Gazetted Veterinary Technical Service (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1983 for conducting direct recruitment to the post of Livestock Inspectors through Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission would become systematic and transparent. This dispensation made in the recruitment Rules of 1983 will be in conformity with the recruitment procedure of similar Group ‘C’ posts of other departments.

— Framing of Odisha Multipurpose Health Worker (Male) Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019.
— Framing of Odisha Multipurpose Health Worker (Female) Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019.
— The framing of Odisha Nursing Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019.
— The framing of Odisha Laboratory Technician Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019.
— The framing of Odisha Pharmacist Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019.
— The framing of Odisha Radiographer Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019.
— Transfer of the left-out urban local body (ULB) schools (High Schools) of two ULBs to the School & Mass Education Department and declaring the teaching and non-teaching staff of these schools as government Servants after the takeover.
— Amendment of the Additional Block Development Officers (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1992 to relax the service period as five years from the existing ten years for the Gram Panchayat Extension Officers and Progress Assistants in order to fill up these vacancies of the Assistant Block Development Officers.
— Implementation of Rural Piped Water Supply Projects under one package to provide safe drinking water to 2,92,511 people of 747 villages of 45 gram panchayat under two blocks of Boudh district out of BASUDHA funding. The project to be taken up by Larsen & Toubro Ltd at a cost of Rs 427.59 crore, will be completed in two years.
— Implementation of Rural Piped Water Supply Projects under one package to provide safe drinking water to 3,17,400 people of 245 villages of 53 gram panchayats under four blocks in Nabarangpur district out of the funds provided under “Infrastructure Development Fund for KBK districts. The project to be taken up by GVPR Engineers Ltd, Hyderabad amounting to Rs 555,42,23,586, will be completed in two years.
— Approval of the Odisha Geological Service (Rural Water Supply), (Method of Recruitment & Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019 to invite meritorious students to fill up the vacant posts at different levels.
— Approval of tender for the “Mega Lift Project Cluster No-V on river Mahanadi and Rengali Right Bank Canal in Angul, Boudh and Dhenkanal districts.
— Approval of tender for the Mega Lift Project Cluster-DMF on Brahmani, Baitarani, Mahanadi and lb rivers in Jajpur, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda districts.
— Approval of tender for the Mega Lift Project Cluster-IV on Mahanadi river in Sambalpur and Sonepur districts.
— Approval of tender for the Mega Lift Project Cluster on Chitapari, Pottery, Saberi, Garia, and Kolab rivers in Malkangiri district.
— The framing of the Odisha Heads of Department (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of establishment officers, administrative officers and senior administrative officers in the office of the Heads of Departments) Common Cadre Rules, 2019.
— The framing of the Odisha Heads of Department (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of junior assistants, assistant section officers and section officers in the offices of the Heads of Departments) Rules, 2019.
