Bhubaneswar: In a major decision the Odisha Cabinet has approved the proposal to include the spouses of the members of land owners in the Pani Panchayats for enhancing women participation.
The Cabinet took 6 important decisions at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday. The decisions pertain to the departments of Fisheries and Animal Resource Development, Law, Revenue and Disaster Management, Water Resources and Works.
Informing about the Cabinet decisions, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said amendment of Pani Panchayat Act for inclusion of mega lift irrigation projects in it has been approved. Besides, the Cabinet took the decision for inclusion of the spouses of the members of landowners in the Pani Panchayats for enhancing women participation.
The Cabinet also approved amendment of Odisha veterinary services recruitment rules; enhancement of posts in OAS cadre at Group-A junior branch level; return of unutilised land of around 206 acre acquired by IDCO in village Kalipalli of Ganjam district to the original land owners; pay revision of the Judicial Officers and payment of decretal dues to Larsen and Turbo Ltd as per decisions of Arbitration Tribunal.
