Bhubaneswar: In a bid to place due emphasis on the drinking water sector, the State Cabinet, which met at State Secretariat here on Wednesday, decided to rename Panchayati Raj Department as Department of Panchayati Raj and Water Supply.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, decided to change the name of Women and Child Development Department to Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti Department to lay more
stress on strengthening the Mission Shakti Programme in the State. It also decided that a separate directorate will be formed under the department to empower women self help groups (SHGs) in Odisha.
Besides, the cabinet gave the go-ahead to merge the General Administration and Public Grievances and Pension Administration departments and rename it as General Administration and Public Grievances department.
