Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet will discuss the proposal on extending the tenure of 66 civic bodies by another six months, at its meeting at the State Secretariat here on Monday evening.
The meeting, to be presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, will discuss seven other proposals.
It may be mentioned here that the tenure of 77 urban local bodies (ULBs) is going to end on September 30.
As the state government had moved the Supreme Court, challenging the order of the Orissa High Court on the reservation of SC, ST and OBC seats in the ULBs, it is yet to submit the list of the wards and the number of the reserved seats for the aforesaid communities till date.
Apart from this, different state-sponsored welfare schemes will also be discussed.
Sources said the meeting will be held at 6.15 pm after a meeting of the BJD Legislature Party at the State Assembly scheduled for 5.45 pm.
