Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved the voluntary retirement system (VRS) of IPS officer Sanjay Kumar Singh, who led the investigation into the Aryan Khan drugs case.
The notification issued by the Home department said that Singh had applied on February 2 for voluntary retirement from service with effect from April 30. And his request to relax the mandatory notice period of three months has been accepted.
Singh was warded the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service on Republic Day this year.
The 1996-batch officer has been serving as Deputy Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) since January 2021. Singh had also led the special investigation team, which took over the cruise drug case from NCB Mumbai headed by Sameer Wankhede in November 2021. Aryan Khan was later given a clean chit in the case.
