Bhubaneswar: The Centre has cancelled the proposed appointment of Odisha cadre IPS officer Himanshu Lal in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
Lal was allowed by the state government to join in class I executive cadre in the Cabinet Secretariat in June. Prior to this, Lal was serving as DIG of Police (northern range), Sambalpur.
According to sources, Lal was on leave since his transfer to the Cabinet Secretariat due to personal reasons. He was supposed to join the RAW but it was cancelled after the exposure of his identity in social media.
He is still on Central deputation and has been offered to join some other Central forces. But, he has chosen to join Odisha.
Meanwhile, Odisha cadre IPS officer Satyajit Naik, who was on Central deputation as the SP of NIA, has been sent back to home state before completion of his tenure.
Additional director general (ADG) YK Jethwa has returned after successful completion of the tenure of his Central deputation. Similarly, Ritu Arora, who was serving in Central Industrial Security Force, has returned to home state.
