Bhubaneswar: A new ring road will be constructed soon to ease heavy traffic congestion in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities.
This was revealed by senior BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi while speaking at the inauguration of the much-awaited Hansapal flyover in Odisha capital.
The Lok Sabha member said that a 111-km-long Capital Region Ring Road will be constructed in order to address the issue of increasing vehicular movement and traffic congestion in the two cities.
The proposed ring road will connect Rameswar in Khurda district with Tangi in Cuttack district, passing through key areas like Khurda town, Bhubaneswar, Athagarh, Cuttack city, and Choudwar.
The project will be built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at an estimated cost of Rs 6,500 crore. The NHAI has already initiated the process for the construction of six-lane access controlled ring road by floating tender for the project.
Notably, Sarangi inaugurated the Hansapal flyover on National Highway-16. The 600-meter-long flyover is built at a cost of Rs 24 crore over five years and is expected to significantly improve traffic flow between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on NH-16.
