Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped the denizens of Bhubaneswar after thundershower accompanied by strong wind lashed the city on Wednesday afternoon.
The weather in the city suddenly changed around 2 pm and it witnessed sudden downpour.
While hailstones dropped at some areas of the city, power was disrupted due to snapping of power lines.
The sky, however, soon cleared up.
The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, in a mid-day bulletin, has forecast thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rainfall with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Angul, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Jagatsingpur, Dhenkanal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir and Koraput between 3.30 pm and 6.30 pm.
It has warned the people to remain alert during the period.
