Bhubaneswar: Odisha Crime Branch on Tuesday detained eight persons for their alleged links with arrested gangster Tito alias Syed Usman Ali.

According to available information, ten teams carried out separate raids at various places in Cuttack and nabbed these persons for interrogation.

The gangster was sent to Barimul jail in Kendrapara district after being produced before the SDJM court here on Monday.

Tito was produced before the court by the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch following the end of his three-day remand.

Tito was taken by the Crime Branch on remand for twelve days in three phases for interrogation on his criminal activities and business links.

Talking to the media, the gangster had said that he was innocent. A conspiracy had been hatched against him, he added.

Sources in the Crime Branch said that Tito would be taken on remand again in the near future in connection with other cases pending against him.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch is on the lookout for six brothers of the dreaded criminal over their business links with him.

The STF sleuths had on Sunday arrested two sharpshooters for their alleged links with the gangster.

The accused were identified as SK Sayed and Babula. They are allegedly involved in more than 25 cases, including murder and extortion.

The STF has already sealed a furniture showroom owned by one of Tito’s relatives at Marsaghai in Kendrapara district. The raid was conducted after it came to know that the gangster had invested on this establishment.

The STF officials had also interrogated Tito’s wife Benazir Bibi at her residence at Dilarpur in the district for more than an hour over firms, petrol pumps and a luxurious car she owns.

Properties, including land, vehicles and houses, worth Rs 2 crore belonging to the gangster have also been unearthed during raids at different places.
