Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister KV Singhdeo will participate in the state-level function for PM Kisan Utsav in Bargarh on June 18.
Revealing this to mediapersons on Sunday, Singhdeo, who is also the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, said the government would implement all the promises made by the BJP to the farmers in its election manifesto.
“All the issues related to the agriculture and farmers will be taken up in the Assembly. The government will implement the decisions taken after the debate with all sincerity,” he said.
On the BJP’s promise for increasing the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy, Singhdeo said the process has already been started. “The chief minister has issued direction to the officials concerned to find the ways and means to pay hiked MSP to the farmers,” he added.
Besides Majhi and KV, the newly-appointed Cabinet and state ministers will also grace the events organised on the occasion in different districts from 4.30 am to 7 pm.
The MPs of Berhampur, Balasore, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Nabarangpur will also attend the event in their respective constituencies.
It may be noted that immediately after assuming charge for third time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had signed the papers for release of 17th instalment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi cash benefit of around Rs 20,000 crore.
The funds for the scheme, which is targeted to benefit 9.3 crore farmers, will be distributed among the beneficiaries at the PM Kisan Utsav.
