Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been rated the most popular CM in the country, according to the India Today Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll.
Naveen emerged as the No. 1 CM with a 78 per cent popularity rating in Odisha.
Raj Chengappa, Group Editorial Director (Publishing) of India Today Group, credited Naveen’s popularity to ‘good governance’.
“He does his work quietly. He doesn’t shout too much. There is no corruption charge, there is no taint against him personally in any of the years he has ruled. People trust him,” said Chengappa.
Rajdeep Sardesai, Consulting Editor and anchor, India Today Group, said Naveen has defied every stereotype of today’s politicians. “The Biju Janata Dal may carry the name of Biju Patnaik but it is Naveen Patnaik’s party,” he said.
Himanta Biswa Sarma is the next most popular CM in his home state Assam with 63 per cent popularity followed by M K Stalin in Tamil Nadu with 61 per cent popularity.
