Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced cash award for the Olympic Bronze medal-winning Indian Men’s Hockey Team.
Congratulating the Indian hockey team, the Chief Minister announced that each player will get Rs 15 lakh, while support staff will be given Rs 10 lakh.
Majhi announced a special cash award of Rs four crore for Amit Rohidas, who hails from Odisha.
“I announce Rs 15 lakh cash award for each player and Rs 10 lakh for each support staff. I also announce Rs 4 crore special cash award for Odisha player Amit Rohidas,” the CM said.
The CM lauded the Indian team for the back-to-back Olympic Bronze medals and termed it a remarkable and proud accomplishment.
He praised the relentless spirit and unwavering determination of the team for its thrilling win against Spain.
“Today’s victory will inspire countless sports talents and sports lovers in the state,” he said while congratulating Harmanpreet Singh and the entire team for winning the medal.
After India beat Spain 2-1 to bag the Bronze medal, the Chief Minister spoke to the players over phone. On the occasion, Majhi also invited the team to visit Odisha soon.
