Odisha CM Announces Hike In Remuneration & Allowance Of Havildars & Constables

Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a hike in remuneration and allowances of havildars, constables and sepoys of the state police.

Addressing the 45th annual convention of Havildar, Constable and Sepoy Mahasangh in Cuttack on Monday, the chief minister said sepoys, havildars and constables were the backbone of Odisha Police.

“They work in biting cold, heavy rain and hot summer. The grassroots level law and order is maintained by these personnel,” he said.

Stating that the state government was sympathetic towards the constables, havildars and sepoys, the chief minister said they would be paid an additional month’s salary as an incentive for their contributions to the society.

“Besides, their motorcycle allowance (earlier bi-cycle allowance) will be increased from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000. As per the Mahasangh’s demands, their uniform allowance will be increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000,” he said.

He also announced that a new office for Odisha Police Havildar-Constable-Sepoy Association will be set up in Bhubaneswar. He also said the government would take necessary steps for recruitment of Class IV employees.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania appreciated the contributions of constables, havildars and sepoys towards police force.
