Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced Rs 1,690.46 crore COVID assistance for people of economically and socially backward class of the state.
The aid will benefit landless farmers, construction workers, people living below poverty line, primitive groups and NREGA workers.
Announcing the assistance Naveen said two months of lockdown due to the second wave of coronavirus has broken the backbone of poor people, who are the worst affected from financial point of view. The government has come up with the aid to provide some relief, he added.
Mukta scheme launched to provide employment to urban poor.
Under the special package landless farmers under KALIA scheme will get additional assistance of Rs 1,000.
Registered construction workers will get assistance of Rs 1,500 each.
Each family belonging to the primitive groups will get Rs 5,000.
Labourers will be paid additional Rs 50 daily wage under MGNREGA
