Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for families of the two passengers, who died after an Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus overturned near Gaham in Angul district on Sunday.
He also directed for providing best healthcare facility to the injured.
The accident took place around 4 pm when the bus en route to Pallahada in Angul from Baripada skidded off the road. Police along with locals rescued the injured, who were then immediately rushed to sub-divisional hospital at Talcher. Seven of them with serious injuries were later shifted to district headquarters hospital in Angul.
Two passengers were declared brought-dead at the hospital.
“The vehicle overturned near Adhina Gaham village, after the driver lost control of the bus carrying around 50 to 60 passengers,” Angul SP Rahul Jain said.
Efforts are on to nab the driver, who is absconding, he added.
Earlier on Sunday, a Class X student died while 23 others were injured when a pick-up van transporting them from Mala Biharpur Government School in Athagarh to the Saranda ground for Republic Day celebrations overturned.
