Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each to the families of two men who were shot dead by robbers during a dacoity attempt in Jajpur district.
Majhi expressed grief over the incident and also announced that the state government will bear the medical expenses of those injured in the incident.
Notably, two persons were shot dead by miscreants during a robbery attempt at a jewellery shop at Panikoili area of Jajpur on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Nilamadhab Panda, a local resident, and Sunil Ray, an employee of the jewellery shop.
At least five bike-borne miscreants who stormed the jewellery shop also tried to loot Ray while he was on his way to deposit cash in a bank. Ray and Panda were killed by the miscreants.
