Odisha CM Approves Rationalisation of Police Posts, Creation Of New Police Stations

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday approved rationalisation of 905 posts in Odisha police and creation of 6 new police stations in the state.

The approval for the rationalisation of posts in 220 police stations was given for better crime control and efficient delivery of citizen centric services. Significant decline in the Maoist menace due to strong security response and development activities has enabled the state to rationalise its manpower in police, a release from the chief minister’s office said.

Earlier, the chief minister had directed the Director General of Police to make more personnel available in police stations by way of rationalisation.

Naveen also approved creation of 6 new police stations in various districts by bifurcation the existing ones. The police stations that will be bifurcated are Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar, Angul Town, Jhasuguda Town, Bhanjanagar in Ganjam, Bhadrak (Rural) and Tihidi in Bhadrak.
