Balasore: Keeping with the promise made by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during the by-election last year, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra along with 5T Secretary VK Pandian and Works Secretary Krishan Kumar visited Balasore town on Tuesday.
The high-level team made an assessment of the basic requirements for the all-round development of the town.
They took stock of the ongoing development works and also those that are pending. “We will submit a detailed report to the Chief Minister on the infrastructure requirements and the issues afflicting the town,” said Mohapatra.
He said there is a need for streetlights at Remuna Chhak.
They toured the town from Kuruda Chhak to the bus stand and visited the districts headquarters hospital (DHH), the medical college project site and Balasore Zilla School, among others.
At DDH, the team reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the district, which reported 72 new cases in the last 24 hours.
According to sources, Retired SBI manager Tulasi Ranjan Mishra donated Rs 2 lakh for the development of Balasore Zilla School. He along with other former students of the school also discussed the Mo School programme with the three senior government officials.
Naveen had promised to personally monitor the development works in the town during his election rally in October last year. A month later, BJD wrested the assembly seat from BJP in the bypoll.
Notably, the Balasore review came days before Pipili bypoll scheduled on April 17. The CM also made a similar promise for Pipili during a virtual rally on Monday.
