Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Monday, took to social media to appreciate Havildar Gyanenu Kumar Mallik of Traffic P.S. Cuttack for having helped a differently-abled man at Bali Jatra in Cuttack last month.
He wrote,”Compassion in duty and right attitude make all the difference in public service. Appreciate Havildar Gyanendu Kumar Mallik of Traffic P.S. Cuttack for showing sensitivity dutifulness to assist the differently abled.”
The video of Gyanendu was first shared by Commissionerate Police Bhubaneswar Cuttack, on Twitter on November 29. He was described as ‘a role model’.
On December 2, he was felicitated along with Rajalaxmi Baliarsing of Bhubaneswar UPD for her “empathy and sensitive attitude towards differently-abled persons on the public road.”
Commissionerate Police also tweeted an hour ago about Havildar Suresh Nayak and Sepoy Pitamber Jani for their “empathy and compassion beyond the call of duty.” They shared a video of the two holding an almost unconscious man appearing sick.
Prior to this, the CM had also applauded BDO Tarani Suna, who set an example by carrying the body of an old man on his shoulders for cremation after residents of Banjipali in Balangir district refused to conduct the last rites fearing social ostracism. He also congratulated Bargarh SP Mukesh Bhamoo who helped two accident victims by letting them be driven to the hospital in his vehicle.
