Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday felicitated national awardee teacher Om Prakash Mishra of Odisha’s Koraput district at the State Secretariat here.
Forty-eight-year-old Mishra received the National Award for Teachers-2017 in New Delhi on September 5. He was recognised for his contribution to the field of teaching (Science and Mathematics) through simple methodology.
Presenting him a memento of silver filigree work, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said Mishra is an inspiration in the field of teaching. His teaching methodology in Science and Mathematics will encourage other teachers and students also, he added.
Mishra served in many schools of Koraput district in the past 20 years and currently posted at Jeypore High School.
His book ‘Experimento’ was published in 2015. The science practical handbook by Mishra gives a pictorial presentation on how various science experiments can be done with locally available resources. His research-based articles have also been published in various national and international journals.
He has also been prepared a module of the meritorious students of backward areas of Koraput district, who are eligible to get national merit scholarship.
Mishra has been working for the development of the school with the help of local people. The ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ has given a push to his endevour.
He is the only teacher from Odisha among the 45 selected for the national award given by the Ministry of Human Resources Development this year. The state government had conferred the best teacher award on him last year.
