Odisha CM Flags Off 30 New ERSS Vehicles Of Commissionerate Police For Unified Emergency Service

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Thursday dedicated 30 new Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) vehicles to the Commissionerate Police to ensure quick action during emergencies in the Twin City.

Official sources said that the vehicles will operate in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack as part of the new services being introduced by the police beyond security. The aim is to provide primary medical assistance, ambulance, and fire services.

The emergency response systems will function under the ‘Dial 112’ services to provide preliminary as well as additional assistance in cases of fire and medical emergencies.

These vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and tools to enable the Commissionerate Police to deploy rapid emergency services across the twin cities. Oxygen tanks, stretchers, life-support systems, and first-aid kids are installed in the new fleet of police vehicles which will help cops aid victims in cases like accidents with immediate healthcare assistance like an ambulance.

Similarly, fire suppression systems, ladders, ropes, and life jackets aim to equip police with rescue missions in cases of fire or calamities. Additionally, these vehicles are also fitted with location-tracking features to provide swift assistance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister it was necessary to have a dedicated fleet of law enforcers who can act as first responders to tackle security situations in the state.

While 22 of these new vehicles will be deployed in Bhubaneswar, eight will operate in Cuttack. Further, such vehicles will be rolled out soon with assistance from the Central government, he said.
