Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday granted Rs 16 crore for the development of religious institutions for minority communities in the state.
Out of the Rs 16 crore sanctioned from the Special Problem Fund (SPF), Rs 1 crore each will be provided to Jesus Christ Church and Mother Mary Catholic Church at Satyanagar in Bhubaneswar. Rs 2 crore each will be provided to Capital Masjid at Unit-IV in Bhubaneswar, Odia Baptist Church at Mission Road and Kadam-e-Rasool Masjid at Daragha Bazar in Cuttack.
Apart from this, Rs 1 crore each will be provided to Fakirabad Markaji Masjid in Kendrapara, Puruna Bazar Jama Masjid at Puruna Bazar in Bhadrak, Paltan Masjid and Saint Joseph’s Cathedral (Roman Catholic) in Sambalpur, Jamia Masjid at Bhapur Bazar and Odia Baptist Church at Giri Road in Berhampur, Bishop Missionary (Roman Catholic) in Rourkela and Sunni Jama Masjid in Rajgangpur.
The infrastructure development will include the construction of community centres on the premises of these institutions, said a release by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
