Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: After the launch of the Trophy Tour of FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in Odisha capital, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flew to New Delhi on a day’s visit to the national capital on Monday.
Speaking to the media in Delhi, the CM said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting of India’s G-20 presidency this evening. I have been invited and will be attending it,” he said.
Naveen further said that Konark could be on the agenda.
India officially assumed the G20 presidency on December 1, and the all-party meeting has been convened to solicit suggestions and discuss and finalise strategies for the summit, which India will host in September next year.
According to reports, presidents of nearly 40 parties have been invited to the meeting at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Cultural Centre from 5 pm to 6.30 pm. The Prime Minister is expected to brief them about the year-long activities planned to showcase New Delhi’s soft power leading up to the marquee summit. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is also likely to attend it.
India will be holding the G20 presidency from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023, and during this period about 200 meetings on 32 sectors at multiple locations across the length and breadth of India will be organised. Sun Temple in Odisha’s Konark is likely to host one of five key meetings, focusing on the “culture track”, during India’s G20 Presidency, sources said.
The next G20 Leaders’ Summit at the level of heads of states or governments is scheduled to be held on September 9 and 10 next year in New Delhi.
